For owners, the immediate question is: what does this mean for my ownership and the vacations I want to take?
Here’s a look at the new tiers, their benefits and qualification requirements, and what to consider if you’re thinking about adding more points.
What Are the New Marriott Vacation Club Tiers?
Marriott’s ownership website now lists seven benefit levels. The published 2026 breakdown shows these Club Points thresholds:
| Ownership tier |
Club Points |
| Owner |
Up to 3,999 |
| Select |
4,000–6,999 |
| Executive |
7,000–9,999 |
| Presidential |
10,000–14,999 |
| Chairman’s Club |
15,000–29,999 |
| Reserve — new |
30,000–49,999 |
| Pinnacle — new |
50,000+ |
Previously, Chairman’s Club was the highest level, starting at 15,000 points. The new structure adds two levels above it, with separate qualification rules. See the published tier breakdown.
These are vacation ownership levels within Abound by Marriott Vacations. Marriott Bonvoy is a separate hotel loyalty program, although some ownership benefits connect the two.
What Do Reserve and Pinnacle Owners Get?
The announced benefits focus on booking, planning, and additional travel options.
Reserve includes a 45% last-minute Club Points discount within 60 days of arrival, preferred waitlist positioning, and a banking deadline one month before the end of the Use Year.
Pinnacle increases that last-minute discount to 50%, moves the banking deadline to two weeks before the Use Year ends, and adds a Personal Vacation Advisor Team.
The published chart also includes opt-in automatic banking at both levels, with different percentages and conditions. Crucially, the reservation discounts apply to owner-occupied stays, excluding unaccompanied guest reservations. View the benefits chart.
For someone who can pack a bag and travel on short notice, a points discount could be useful. For a family planning around school breaks, it may matter less.
Think about your actual travel calendar. A benefit only helps when you can use it.
Do Resale Points Count Toward the New Tiers?
This detail deserves your attention.
The published qualification rule says only Club Points and Enrolled Weeks purchased from or through the developer count toward Reserve and Pinnacle status. Having enough total points does not automatically establish eligibility. Read the qualification details.
Before making a purchase, ask Marriott to confirm how your existing ownership counts. Get a clear explanation of your eligible points, your resulting benefit level, and any additional requirements.
That conversation matters especially if your ownership includes multiple purchases or resale interests. Start with your specific account, rather than assuming a headline points total tells the whole story.
When Do the New Benefits Start?
The announced rollout spans summer 2026, fall 2026, and the first quarter of 2027. Some benefits may therefore become available before others. See the rollout overview.
Before planning a trip around a particular perk, check your owner account or contact Owner Services to confirm its effective date and conditions.
A simple question can save frustration later: “Is this benefit available for the reservation I want to make?”
Should You Buy More Points to Reach a Higher Tier?
Start with the vacations you want.
Look back at the last two or three years. Did you use your ownership comfortably? Were you regularly short on points? Or were you trying to find a use for points before a deadline?
Then consider the full commitment of adding ownership: the purchase price, ongoing maintenance fees, and the additional travel you would realistically take.
Compare those costs with benefits you expect to use regularly. A larger discount has limited practical value if its booking window rarely fits your schedule.
There is no universal best tier. The right fit depends on your family, your budget, and how you like to travel.
Make the Most of the Timeshare You Already Own
At Koala, we believe ownership should work with your life.
Some years, that means taking every trip you planned. Other years, schedules change and part of your timeshare goes unused.
For eligible reservations, renting your unused timeshare through Koala may help offset some ownership costs. Rental eligibility depends on your ownership and reservation rules, and bookings and earnings aren’t guaranteed.
Reserve and Pinnacle give owners more to consider. Start by understanding what you already own, then choose the options that support the vacations and memories you want.
